5 Little Speckled Frogs Printable Pre-K Math Game

5 Little Speckled Frogs Printable Pre-K Math Game

My kids love nursery rhymes! I think the single most effective way I have been able to help them increase their language skills is by introducing them to music. It always seems to get them vocalizing. This 5 Little Speckled Frogs Pre-K Printable Math Game is an easy pre-k math game based on one of their favorite songs.  It introduced them to counting, reading numbers, and basic addition and subtraction.

Set Up For the 5 Little Speckled Frogs Printable Pre-K Math Game

The 5 Little Speckled Frogs Printable Pre-K math game is easy to set up and my pre-k toddlers loved it! Basically, the 5 little speckled frogs jump off their log into a little pool of water. The printable also comes with bugs for them to eat!

Each frog has a number printed on their belly. You can use these numbers to help your child begin reading numbers.

Each frog is mounted on a stand. A second half of the stand is printed next to it. Cut out each stand and frog. (I didn’t cut out the frogs exactly but left a little white layer at the top of their heads and around their bodies.)

Cut the line in the center of the stand. Cut the center of the base of the frog just enough to mount in on the stand without it sliding down too far.

Now the frog should stand when you spread the base 90degrees from the stand.

Play Suggestions

Go along with the song and have each frog fall into the pool and count the ones remaining with your child.

For more advanced pre-k, help them learn to add or subtract the numbers of the frogs that fell into the pool.

Have your child write out the numbers on the frogs and the basic math equations.

Use the stands of the frogs to write basic math equations.

Write plus or minus signs on the bugs  to build equations. Place a frog on either side of the bug to add and subtract the numbers of the frogs.

The possibilities are endless!

Supplies for the 5 Little Speckled Frogs Pre-K Printable Math Game

  • Scissors to cut out all the pieces.
  • You’ll need either a flexible yard stick, paint stick, or whatever you can glue the log onto. This will make a diving board for your little frogs. Glue the log on and let the end spring the frogs into the pool or knock them over into the pool.
  • I recommend printing these out on cardstock. And if you really want them to last, laminate all the pieces.

That’s it! Simple !
